Dubstep is a wide church these days, and every different sect therein seems to be enjoying ample amounts of success. The Purple Wow sound that Joker, Ginz, Gemmy and Guido concocted in Bristol has started to claim a second wave of young producers who have been bitten and smitten by the synth-heavy, funk-fuelled sound – and Mensah’s efforts in pushing the boat forward are being heartily recognised. That’s not to say he’s just some imitator – he’s got his own thang going on, even if it is cut from similar cloth.
